Herself in the Wild: Marrakech
Journey with us as we explore the magical city of Marrakech, Morocco.
Where to Stay: El Fenn
El Fenn is the perfect hotel for a first time visit to Marrakech. The space is beautifully decorated with local furniture, art and textiles, while also being centrally located. Right outside your door is the bustle of the city, while the inside feels like a private oasis. The rooftop was an ideal spot to lounge with a cocktail and catch the sun setting.
Our favorite part of the day was afternoon tea, where a spread of pastries were set out along with pots of famous Moroccan mint tea.
You might feel like you don't want to leave, but stay with us, because there is so much else to explore.
Must Do: Shopping the Media
It is best to book a guide with the hotel to show how to navigate the Medina, otherwise it is a vast maze that feels overwhelming. Our guide also took us to vendors who sold items made locally, since a lot of the Medina is apparently overrun with items made in China.
We had so much fun exploring the colors, sounds and smells of this maze within the city. We had to hold back from filling our suitcases with more than we could carry. My favorite purchases are embroidered pillow cases.
While touring the Medina, stop in to Jardin Secret for a little break in a beautiful park. Marrakech is so surprising in that you really have no idea what lies behind a seemingly normal door. Originally built 400 years ago, the complex was only recently opened to the public.
After a busy day of shopping and exploring, we stopped at L'MIDA for a delicious lunch of Moroccan-inspired dishes using super fresh ingredients. It is very popular, so book ahead and request the roof for a great view.
Must See: Jardin Majorelle
This one is for all the fashion fans. Jardin Majorelle was owned by Yves Saint Laurent in the 1920's. It is a beautiful garden set alongside electric blue architecture. It is well worth the taxi ride out of the center of town. Book tickets ahead of time as they sell out.
There is a cafe on-site, but we heard that the food wasn't great, so opted for the nearby Le Majorelle Restaurant for a fresh salad and juices.
Finally... What (Jewelry) to Wear
What better gem is there for the Red City? These sparkly bracelets are perfect for stacking for a more dramatic look and instantly add a pop of color.
Made is luminous white moonstone beads, this choker is the perfect neutral to add to a colorful outfit. Plus it is perfect for stacking with chains because it won't tangle.
This ancient symbol of protection can be seen all over Marrakech. I loved the energy of security it gave as we explored all corners of the city.
As colorful as the city itself, these grade AAA gemstones are the star of the party.
Made from freshwater pearls, these statement earrings make a bigger splash when paired with any earring from our Harmony Collection.
