We have always been fascinated with the history of crystals and the energy bestowed on them by ancient civilizations. We are also captivated by the traditions around jewelry as a talisman or form of protection.
Moonstone
In line with the mystery that surrounds the moon, this stone is said to help the wearer uncover secrets that lie in the subconscious. It also can open channels of intuition.
Ancient romans used moonstone in jewelry as far back as 2000 years ago. They believed it brought the wearer love, success and wealth. It was commonly used as a wedding gift.
Amethyst
This stone was once as valuable and rare as emeralds and rubies until a vast source was found in Brazil in the 18th Century. Ideas that the stone protects the wearer from bad energy stem from ancient Egypt.
The name of this stone comes from ancient Greek and literally translates as "not intoxicated". The Greeks either wore this stone, or drank from vessels containing this stone, with the belief that it would prevent them from getting drunk.
Rose Quartz
Also referred to as the "Heart Stone", Rose Quartz is said to have energies that surround love. Romantic love is included, but it also encompasses all types of love, such as self-love. Rose Quartz is said to help the wearer heal emotional damage and find deep compassion.
In Ancient Egypt, this stone was associated with Isis, the goddess of love and magic. As part of the Quartz family, Rose Quartz has a slight translucence that adds to its mystery.
Ruby
Also associated with love, the Ruby is also said to harness passion and power. Many cultures thought of rubies as the stone of kings. Oftentimes, wearers would place their ruby jewelry on the left side, or heart side, of their body, believing that it would protect the wearer from physical harm.
Black Spinel
In general, black stones are thought to have strong protective energies. The other properties of this stone are grounding and clearing. Black Spinel has beautiful reflective properties and is deep black in color. It is not as hard as a diamond, but technically has more "brilliance".
Sapphires
Sapphires are most commonly known as a blue stone, but actually occurs in many colors in nature. We source Grade AAA rainbow sapphires for a more colorful representation of this stone. Red Sapphires are actually classified as Rubies, but both stones comprise of the same chemical makeup.
Sapphires are said to bring peace, harmony and ease to relationships. There is also a history of sapphire being associated with antidotes to poison. The overall belief was that the wearer would maintain good health when adorned with sapphires.

Sometimes ancient civilizations used symbols, instead of precious stones, for energetic purposes. The evil eye is a popular talisman today and is a common symbol in jewelry. It is said to protect the wearer from energies that cause harm or ill intent.
